The book, with the jobs written next to the names
Recorded at, mixed at and mastered at are three different sentences and only one of them is usually true. Here is which one, for every record we are allowed to list.
15 records - 412 sessions - 2022 to now
since 2022
The counts
- 412 sessions logged since 2022
- 61 releases finished here
- 11 days on the longest record
- 3 engineers, all of them on staff
the book
Fifteen records, and what we actually did on each
Studios list names. This lists names and jobs, because "recorded at" can mean anything from eleven days on the floor to an afternoon in the mastering room, and those are not the same claim.

session notes
Three of them, at length
-
Bare Wire - 2025
A record that arrived finished and wrong
The Rennick Sisters brought in three years of home recordings and asked whether anything could be done. We did not re-record a note. Eleven days of mixing, the plate on every harmony, and a mastering pass that stopped trying to make it sound expensive. It is the closest thing we have to a house record.
-
Second House - 2023
Four players, one take, no headphones
Marta Vidas wanted the quartet in a circle with the panels open and the tape running. No click, no cans, one microphone pair for the room and four spots for insurance. Take six is the album. The whole session was over by four in the afternoon.
-
Advent - 2024
Eighteen voices in a room built for eight
The Coldharbour choir did not fit, so we moved the panels out and put them in the shape of the room instead of the room in the shape of them. Two ribbons, three metres up. The 0.94 second tail everyone else asks us to remove is the entire recording.
Put your record in the book
Most of what is above started as three lines in an email. Tell us what you are making, how finished it already is, and roughly when you can be in the building.
